Info
This coffee is produced in Fresno Tolima, at one of our estate allies; EL VERGEL ESTATES, managed by the Bayter brothers and their mom Marta. This is a project that began in 1995, based on the production of conventional Colombian coffee and avocado over 15 years EL VERGEL became known as one of the biggest producers in their region which led them to provide economic growth to all of the people who worked with them (Approximately 100 people).
This varietal is a mix of yellow caturra and red caturra, it was planted on November of 2016 at 1,350 MASL in the microlot Tico Pepe, with a medium, density per hectare of3,000/Ha (In Colombia is used to plant 5,000-10,000 plants/Ha) due to the small size of the variety they were able to have this increased density per hectare it is composed by 24,000 plants with a production of approximately 48,000 lbs of green coffee(300 bags 70kg). This coffee is one of the oldest varieties they have worked with at EL VERGEL ESTATES, giving them a lot of experience to obtain most of the potential that this variety can provide. The name is Guava Banana, which comes due to the naturally grown Guava trees all around this region and its unique effect on this particular lot which has led them to develop this note in the profile of this coffee.
